The Best Plains In Africa

Serengeti is the best ecosystem to ever happen on mother earth. It's located in north-western part of Tanzania and in Kenya to the south-western side. It's home to the world's largest animal's migration. It's now one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Visitors arrive in Kenya's Masai Mara Game Reserve annually from June to November to witness this magical migration. It happens on the Mara River and one gets to watch the Nile Crocodiles as they crash the wildebeest as they cross the river live.

Serengeti is a word with origin from a local community in Kenya called the Maasai. The word Serengit means 'Endless Plains'. The savanna contains numerous national parks and game reserves. It also has a very high number of wildlife. Its grasslands and woodlands support the Wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, buffalo, elephants and other grazers. The habitat is home to Africa's best predators from cheetahs, leopards, lions and hyenas. Some of most common birds are the African vultures that mill high above waiting for any weak animal to die.

Serengeti plains have some of the best features around. They have very large ancient rocks that are used as observation points of the plains. They area around the plains is called Maasailand and it's protected by both Kenya and Tanzania governments. In these plains, visitors can observe the Ol Donyo Lengai that is the only active volcano around and still shoots very hot lava. Due to the thick layer formed by the volcanic ash, most of the area is treeless. Trees root cannot penetrate the ground.
